Ballaghaderreen Sporting and Conservation Society

Almost every parish in the country has it’s local “Gun Club”, and in addition to being an important social outlet for their members, every one of those clubs provides a valuable resource to local farmers and to the indigenous wildlife also by controlling vermin and predators.

Our Society aims to provide this same resource to the Ballaghaderreen area, however in addition to controlling vermin and predators, we are also keenly interested and involved in breeding and rearing wildfowl which are to be released into the countryside for all to enjoy.

The Ballaghaderreen Sporting and Conservation Society was established in 2012.

For over twenty years there has not been an organised group of sporting and conservation enthusiasts based in the Ballaghaderreen area for one reason or another, but that is no longer the case!

We have put much effort into establishing a society that is solid, responsible and progressive, and we are looking forward to the challenge of evolving with the times as new members come along.

Come to think of it, not many clubs or societies of our nature have a website for example!

The Ballaghaderreen Sporting and Conservation Society is governed by a Constitution which reflects the principles of democracy. Every member has voting rights, and every effort has been made in the creation of our Constitution to make it a fair and solid foundation on which our Society is built.

We are always interested in learning more about conservation to improve our own wildlife and habitat conservation activities, so our members take full advantage of any opportunity to meet with experts or enthusiasts and we are always eager to share ideas and information with like-minded clubs and individuals.

We welcome applications from all shooting and conservation enthusiasts in our area, and we believe that the young and perhaps the not so young can learn a great deal from one another.

When we are not engaged in the activities outlined above, we also take great interest in and enjoy Clay Pigeon shooting, and we have regular events held at local level, and it is our intention to enter a team to shoot at County level.
