BALLAGHADERREEN TOWN TEAM IS FULLY SUPPORTIVE OF THE TOWN DEVELOPMENT.
Ballaghaderreen Town Team fully endorses the multimillion euro development of our town as proposed by Roscommon County Council. This much needed enhancement of our streetscape will make our town more attractive for both its residents and businesses to a much better quality of life. The Town Team which is representative of business, sporting organisations, youth, voluntary, senior citizens and every affiliated body in the area, sees this as our last chance to radically bring our town into the twenty first century. The revised centre design will at long last provide a traffic flow system which will greatly improve the quality of life and safety for everybody. Safety will now be prioritised for both pedestrians and drivers at key areas on our streets. The needs of street traders and business who need loading bays for delivery of goods will be enhanced with properly marked out areas. Age friendly parking spaces will be provided for people who need to use bank facilities and chemist shops . New bus stops will now be placed in new areas that are convenient and safe.
This redevelopment of the Town Centre will create opportunities for new businesses to start up which will greatly increase the footfall of additional shoppers and expand the commercial activity of the wider town.
Ballaghaderreen will once more become an attractive town to visit and shop and as well as creating a vibrant modern streetscape which will provide a safer and more functional environment for all users. The new centre plaza will provide an area for events and street festivals/ markets to take place in a safe and central location of the town.
There are a number of other town development projects that have started are about start as part of the wider regeneration/ improvement of Ballaghaderreen and this town centre development is an essential part of this regeneration plan. A few of these town development projects are : An Bealach Creative Centre, this is a €4ml project that will see Ballaghaderreen be the centre of the Creative sector in the West of Ireland, a €1.5 ml support fund to redevelop the Youth Phoenix Centre, child preschool facility and repurpose the old boys school, further expansion funding for St Attracta’s and St Nathy’s schools, as well as a number of private business expansions which all underpin an exciting future for the town, of Ballaghaderreen.
